RYKER was founded by leading IT GIS professionals from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), the nation’s 6th largest electric public utility.

What’s in a Name?
In crafting our company name and logo, every detail mattered. It wasn’t just about what sounded good or looked appealing on paper; the goal was to capture our brand's identity, values, and aspirations in a succinct and memorable way.
The name RYKER is derived from Nordic culture and represents strength, leadership and a willingness to stand up for what one believes in.

The Lightning Bolt
Our origin: RYKER’s founding members came from an electric utility company and the electric utility sector is our primary area of expertise.
Norse roots: Upon closer inspection the lightning bolt is comprised of 2 triangles which represents the two horns on a medieval Nordic helmet.
